Here are the results of experimenting with piercing the nails in to fabric. After a whole night spent in the sink the nails had rusted to the point where they left a rusty imprint behind on the fabric around the pierced hole. I look at the experimentation as a bit like sewing a therapeutic and methodical process that can be quite calming. The circle being a universal symbol of life. I really like these samples and think a lot more experimentation is needed. The one thing I find curious and question myself is, "Are these a calming process or a process of inflicting pain?" As the act of piercing is a violent act within itself. Leading to death, the rust acts as a reminder for a process that happened.
