-German artist based in London.
-works with film and live performance.
-Graduated from the Slade school of fine art in 2008.
In the lecture Grace Schwindt presented a piece of film called "Only a free individual can create a free society" a specially co-commissioned piece by Site gallery the ambitious installation explores Germany's deep and divisive left wing politics of the 60's-70's. Grace weaves and plays an active role in the whole production, designing/creating the costumes, props, designing the sets, the music and the scripts. I didn't like her work and I felt no connection to what was being said, I didn't fully understand the content of the film, with the language spoken. I also thought Grace Schwindt was rather rude and abrupt when addressing her audience. and really impaitient when it came to questions.
However visually i really liked the costumes she designed for the piece for their sculptural qualities and their dramatic appearance.
