"Being" Exhibition 23rd April - 28th April 2015, APG Works
“Being" exhibition 2015, consisted of 10 textile and assemblage pieces. Direct and indirect visuals to death. The pieces show my own methodical, contemplative and reflective intentions upon the viewer. Subdued and sombre in appearance and theme with references to the natural world and undertones of religious iconography the work struggles with the natural and un-natural balance of mortality vs immortality.
Memento Mori “The Coffin Series” 2015 8/01/2015
The "Coffin" series is a collection of mixed media and textile based embroidery hoop outcomes encased in a glass cabinet. Displayed in a museum type manner allows the work to be viewed in a reflective way almost as if laid out on a mortuary slab. The mixed-media type pieces involving intense hand sewing, rocks, nails, roses, bones and my deceased Nan’s false teeth are inspired by the theme of death, grief, loss, sorrow, love and the placement of memory upon objects, helping to cause a deep and poignant narrative

Memento Mori - sculpture series 2014 / 7/10/14
|
This series of sculptures was inspired by the idea of an Effigy, a "thing" that contains power over something or somebody and the power of belief invested in them. The dangerousness of placing such a promience on Inanimate objects can be detrimental. As all these things are capable of causing harm.
